Stick a Fork in It
Summer is done. I know, I know, it’s the end of November. For real, It’s Thanksgiving week and I’m saying summer is finally over? You’ve probably been freezing your butt off for a while, but I live in Northern California and our seasons are a bit different. They like to arrive a little later and linger for longer. It snows in May and it’s 100 degrees in October. California weather flips everything I know about seasons on its head. The weather has been bi-polar lately. In between weekend snowstorms, we’ve been getting some high 50’s - low 60’s degree sunny days. Perfect weather for the kayak and I've been taking advantage of it! It’s surreal, there is nobody else out on the lake. If you were here over the summer with all the tourists, you would never believe this serenity is possible. It’s just me and the ducks out here and I kind of like it like that. Quakc Quakc, hoot hoot! I begrudgingly put away the kayak last week. The lake is finally too cold for my feet to enter.
Summer was fun. I think i squeezed every last ounce of fun out of it that I possibly could have. Even got some pulp too! But it’s definitely gone. As I write this, the temp outside is 26 degrees and the front deck is iced over…sheesh. I’m not ready for this. But, bring it on! We need some snow! I’m definitely bummed right now. Heavenly was supposed to open on the 21st, and I should be taking some turns down the hill right now, but due to much warmer temps this coming week they delayed the opening. booo! Let it Snow, but in the meantime I may have to go get the kayak out again . . .
