Summer is Winding Down
Hard to believe, but it’s true. The days are getting shorter and the nights are getting cooler. The squirrels are busy dropping pine cones and collecting nuts while the bears are searching for food and fattening up for winter. I feel like MLB Opening Day was a week ago and here we are approaching Labor Day and right in the heat of the pennant races. But summer isn’t over yet!!! In the Bay Area it is actually just beginning. After one of the coldest summers on record we are now entering the September heat waves. Yeah, our weather patterns are weird, but what are you gonna do? I’ve grown to love the fog and chilly summer days.
Winter is my favorite season, because, well, you know, snowboarding. and Hockey. and snowball fights. and Snowboarding. Reading books by the fireplace, hot chocolate, fun stuff. I love winter. But the more time I spend up in Tahoe, the more I am learning to appreciate summer. Hiking and biking, kayaking and paddleboarding, the serenity of morning coffee on the lake, pickleball (don’t laugh, I’m kind of high level), boating, fishing, grilling, drinking beers, star gazing. Days that seem to stretch on forever and end in colorful alpenglow.
Yeah, summer…i’m becoming a fan. Time to sit back, crack a beer and open a book while awaiting the sunset.
